Skiing

PamporovoFrom all the sports in the world, skiing is the one that I really enjoy the most. I've been skiing for thirteen years now and I dare say that I am really good at it. I wonder how dull the winter will look like if I'm not skiing. Going out in the sun and gazing in the open spaces that spread in front of you from the top of the mountain is really very refreshing during the dark winter months. Here in Bulgaria there are a lot of fine ski resorts and my parents and I go often in the winter there. Pamporovo is my favourite winter resort. It has a lot of good hotels and skiing facilities as well as very good ski schools. It is really very suitable for beginning skiers but it has very good steep ski runs as well. I spend most of my winter holidays there. It is always pleasant to chat about it. I will be glad to answer you questions referring to the ski resorts in Bulgaria. I'm looking forward to hear from you unknown ski lovers!!! Visit my page about the main ski resorts in Bulgaria - Pamporovo, Borovets and  Bansko here or at http://skibul.cjb.net/ and vote for your favourite!Skiing in Bulgaria

Hard Rock music from the 60s and 70s

I am a big music fan but I like the real music, not today's MTV style that has nothing to do with music and is only turned to the commercial side. I like rock bands like Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Rainbow and Whitesnake. Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin are one of my favourite American performers and I refer to the WOODSTOCK'69 festival as one of the greatest art, cultural and social events of the 20th century. These 3 days in which more than 400,000 people managed to live as one and without hate, showed the planet that with LOVE, PEACE AND MUSIC the world can be ruled. The performers were all exceptionally good. I am sure that the spirit of August, 1969 will never be repeated again. That doesn't mean I support the drug taking that was popular those years. MAKE LOVE NOT WAR.

I am really great fan of Led Zeppelin. Their intellectually psychedelic music is absolutely incredible. I've been to Page/Plant concert and I can say that this was the greatest thing that ever happened to me. Everything was fantastic and I still can't believe that I've seen this rock titans. It was some magical experience and I wonder if I'm going to be to such a great concert ever again.

Nevertheless, absolutely all concerts of big rock bands are not worth missing. I've been to Whitesnake, Page/Plant, Deep Purple, Grand Funk Railroad and recently to a Metallica gig in the biggest stadium of my city. Those concerts are always great and probably the most pleasant thing of all is the people you meet in the hall or the stadium. They are always very friendly and you see that they've come here to listen to the music, not to fight. There were about 40,000 people to the Metallica's concert and there wasn't a single wounded which is a great feat for a rock concert.

Another band I really love is Deep Purple. They are one of the greatest musicians I've ever heard. Ritchie Blackmore, the one and only guitarist of the band, is my favourite player. I've been to their concert in Sofia. As expected it was an unforgettable experience. The only flaw was that there was a new guitarist, not the original Blackmore, so he changed a bit the overall sound of the band but it still was great! By the way, I saw Mr. Blackmore a few months ago but now he has a different stile - some European medieval music. I do not like it much but I still admire him very much. In fact I managed to shake hands with him and I'm very proud of it.

Everyone who likes any of the above mentioned bands and artists is welcomed to write me!

Books

1984Reading books is one of my favorite activities, although I do not have much time for that. I'm not great fan of the modern fiction. Michael Crighton is an exception, however. I like classical books. For example I've read Tom Sawyer 6 times in my early school years. Fyodor Dostoyevski is another writer that fascinates me with his modernistic apprehension of the world. The author I admire the most is George Orwell. His Animal Farm and 1984 are definitely my favorite books. Most of the Western people refer to these books as science fiction, but that is definitely not so. The regimes he pictures in them bear almost no difference from the communist regime that trampled upon whole Eastern Europe for 50 years. So I appeal to every Western person who have not read 1984 to read it and consider it as a historical book. Orwell is one of the very few individuals from the other side of the Iron Curtain who managed to understand the whole absurdity and wickedness of the communist totalitarianism. Read it to get some idea what my country went through during the communist years.

Other Sports

Except skiing other sports that I enjoy are badminton, basketball, table and lawn tennis. I'm not very good at tennis but I play just for fun with my friends mainly in the weekends when we have free time.
