DEGREE COURSE

BSc in MATHEMATICS AND COMPUTER SCIENCE

 

A 4-year full-time (alternatively, part-time) Bachelor’s Degree Program granting the professional qualification of Teacher on Mathematics, Computer Science and Information Technologies.

The curriculum covers the fundamentals of Mathematics, Computer Science and Information Technologies, which supplemented by teaching-oriented psychology, pedagogy and methodology courses, provide students with a high quality professional training. A wide range of elective courses are also offered, which enables students to put an emphasis on specific fields they opt for, as well as to attend courses in the fields of mathematics, computer science, economics, business, law, psychology, philosophy, language training, etc.

Career opportunities exceed jobs as teachers of mathematics and computer science, supervisors, counsellors and inspectors of the local governments. Their fundamental training in mathematics, computer science and information technologies allows them to apply the acquired knowledge and skills in software development companies, banks, insurance companies, etc., and upon completing a Master’s Degree Program they will be eligible for the careers of teachers and researchers at higher and scientific institutions.

During their training, students can do a major at the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics or a second major in another faculty at University of Plovdiv in accordance with their personal interests and goals. 

Upon graduation, students may wish to continue their education by taking a Master’s Degree Program offered by the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics, by other faculties of University of Plovdiv, or another university.

Students are welcome to use the self-access Internet-connected computer rooms and have their personal e-mail accounts and personal web pages on the faculty server.
