DEGREE COURSE

BSc in COMPUTER SCIENCE

 

A 4-year full-time (alternatively, part-time) Bachelor’s Degree Program granting the professional qualification of Computer Science Expert.

The curriculum covers the fundamentals of mathematics required for specialists of computer science, as well as the fundamentals of information processes and models, modern computer systems, analysis and application of software and information technologies, information services issues, modern methods and systems of design, development and introduction of software products.

Further to the essential scientific knowledge, the curriculum caters for the attainment of the basic technical skills needed by computer science professionals. Part of the courses on the curriculum are elective, which enables students to put an emphasis on specific fields of computer science they opt for, as well as to attend courses in the fields of mathematics, economics, business, law, psychology, philosophy, language training, etc.

Upon graduation, majors in Computer Science will be able to design, develop, evaluate and implement a wide range of software systems, provide training to customers of these systems and apply information technologies to various fields of human activity. Upon completing a Master’s Degree Program they will be eligible for the careers of teachers and researchers at higher and scientific institutions.

During their training, students can do a major at the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics or a second major in another faculty at University of Plovdiv in accordance with their personal interests and goals. 

Upon graduation, students may wish to continue their education by taking a Master’s Degree Program offered by the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics, by other faculties of University of Plovdiv, or another university.

Students are welcome to use the self-access Internet-connected computer rooms and have their personal e-mail accounts and personal web pages on the faculty server.
